On the 10th of October 2021 people around the world will mark World Homeless Day in many varied ways and change the lives of people experiencing homelessness in their local community. We are gathering at Nottingham Holme Run and inviting you to join in taking part in a Half Marathon, 10k or 5k. Runners can get a free place and special tech t-shirt in return for fundraising for Centrepoint and End Youth Homelessness, the leading youth charities in the UK.
This is an ideal venue to chase a fast time as the course is pancake flat. Or just join a fun and spectator filled running event. The event takes place at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. With a traffic free, tarmac course around the regatta lake we are certain that there will be a whole bunch of proud new PB’s or first time achievements on October 10th.
Be part of a fundraising movement that will play a significant role in helping end youth homelessness Even before the pandemic youth homelessness had reached crisis point: over 120,000 young people were homeless or at risk of homelessness in the twelve months leading up to March 2020.
Since the first lockdown, calls to Centrepoint’s Helpline increased by a third, and growing numbers of young people have been unable to work and face eviction.
Reiko Murray, Mass Participation Manager for Centrepoint explains: “Thousands of young people are sleeping rough on the streets every night and many more are forced to stay in places where they don’t feel safe.
“That’s why we are so excited to invite Active Training World athletes to take up a free place in return for fundraising £150 or more towards giving homeless young people working with Centrepoint the chance to turn their lives around.”
