ATW Cross Country Series
Round 3 (Seniors & U 20) & Short Course XC Time Trial (Juniors)
JOIN US FOR THE FINAL ROUND OF THE ATW SENIOR CROSS COUNTRY SERIES ON SATURDAY 17th APRIL 2021, (featuring a special Short Course XC Time Trial for Juniors)
Round 3 (Seniors Only). All Senior entrants from the series have been transferred to this event
For those Senior entrants who have competed in all stages of the competition so far, this is the round where the prize winners will be decided. It is also the opportunity for other Senior cross country runners to tackle an amazing cross-country course set in the private grounds of the beautiful Merchant Taylors School, near Watford. The venue boasts stunning views, challenging hills, stream crossings and a mixture of fast running and muddy tough going. The course will be the same as that used in round 2, but run in reverse, which we believe will provide a totally different set of challenges.
This round, like the others, will be a chip-timed format using our proven method of starting in small waves to be Covid-secure. All series entrants will have their place automatically transferred to this round with their finishing time from the previous rounds being used to seed the waves so similar paced runners will start together, and the fastest waves will start first. This will reduce the amount of overtaking on the course.
If you haven’t raced yet, then don’t worry, during the registration process you will be asked to complete your PB/estimated time over 5K and we’ll use that information to position you appropriately in a start wave.
Wear your club colours with pride! We look forward to seeing clubs taking part and competing for the series team prize.
Series entries are no longer available. All series entrants have been automatically transferred to this round.
Short Course XC Time Trial Races (U11, U13, U15, and U17)
As a transformation from the Winter Season to the Spring, we are holding Short Course XC Time Trial Races for the younger athletes, equivalent to roughly half the distance of the usual cross-country courses and setting off athletes one at a time, with short gaps.
This unique racing format will provide them with a different challenge, though despite the shorter length, the course will still offer a stiff test and help them to prepare for the upcoming summer season. To reflect the shorter distances, the entry cost has been reduced to only £10. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 boys and girls in each category.
Final details, confirmation of waves and start times, formats and course distances for this round will be circulated in the week prior to the event, but it is likely that we will split the Senior/U20 wave in two to reduce congestion and help with social distancing.
Many people are understandably nervous regarding entering events again and we want to assure you that we take every measure we can to organise a safe, socially distanced event. To see this in action watch our video Covid-19 Safety at ActiveTrainingWorld Running and Triathlon Events
