St Neots’ Standard Distance Duathlon

(incorporating the Qualifier for the European Duathlon Championships in 2023)

JOIN US FOR THIS EXCITING RUN-BIKE-RUN EVENT ON SUNDAY 24th JULY 2022.

Whether you are an experienced duathlete looking to qualify to represent Great Britain at the 2023 European Championships or you are a novice competitor looking for a safe and friendly venue for your first Standard Distance Run-Bike-Run event, then the St Neots’ duathlon is ideal.

Both runs will use a multi-lap 2.5km course providing lots of opportunity for spectators to provide vocal energetic support that is bound to help the kilometres fly by. The Bike is a superbly fast 38km out and back course, with minimal turnings, that heads up past Grafham Water before returning to St Neots.

This is a non-draft legal race and the bike course will be patrolled by British Triathlon Moto officials to ensure that the event is both safe and fair for everyone.

If you are looking to qualify for the GB Age Group Team, Athletes MUST register their intent to qualify before 5pm on the Friday before the qualifying race. No late registrations will count.

If you don’t fancy completing all three legs yourself, there is the chance to team up with friends for a standard distance duathlon relay, with one person completing each discipline (the runner can complete both run legs).

The duathlon will begin at 08:00am.

  • Location: Riverside Park, Regatta Meadow, St.Neots , Cambridgeshire, PE19 7LH
  • Start times: Start Times will be confirmed in the final details with the first race starting at 8am
  • Distances: 10km Run – 38km Bike – 5km Run

  • Minimum Age: 17yrs, (On/Before 31 Dec 2022)
  • Activity: Run-Cycle-Run

  • Open to: Solo participants and  relay teams (Standard Distance ONLY)

  • Entry Fee:  From £45 per person (with discounts)

  • Refunds Active Training World does not offer refunds, transfers or deferrals for this event or any events listed on the website. If you are unable to attend due to illness, injury, family bereavement or jury service, you will only be eligible for a transfer or credit note on production of official evidence: Positive Covid-19 test result, Doctor’s note or equivalent.
  • Event Cancellation If the event should have to be cancelled due to reasons beyond ATW’s control (for example – but not limited to – adverse weather, local or national lockdown) entrants will be given a credit note for the value of their entry fee (minus the booking fee) to be used on any ATW event.

Race packs can be collected at the the event venue the day before (16:00-17:00) or on the morning of the race. Bikes can only be racked on the morning of the event.

BTF Insurance
The day licence for Non-BTF members is included in the entry price. If you are a BTF Member, please ensure that you complete your licence number accurately during the registration process. All licence numbers will be validated by BTF before the event and any entrants with an invalid BTF licence number will be asked to show an online copy at registration or, if this is not possible, invoiced £6 for a day license after the event.

There will be an online race briefing made available before the event, it is mandatory to have watched this as there will be no pre-race briefing on the day.

Please arrive in sufficient time to collect your race packs and set up your transition area.

10km FIRST RUN  4 Laps of 2.5k
Run Course Video

Follow the marked course (flags/ arrows/ and tapes) around the flat course as it winds its way around the beautiful Riverside Park. Marshals will be on all turns. Please remember the paths are open to the public, please be courteous.  As you near the final stages of the run please ensure you head in to transition and not on for more laps than needed ! You will be responsible for counting your own number of laps.

TRANSITION AND MOUNT (Racks will be numbered)
Run into transition, find your bike, do not touch your bike until you have put you cycle helmet on and fastened it. Run with your bike out of transition via the exit marked with “bike out” signs. Do not get on your bike until you reach the marked mount line. Remember at this point your race number should be displayed on your back.

BIKE (‘out and back’ lap of 38km)

Once on your bike leave the park with a left hand turn. After leaving St Neots, the course winds its way through the countryside, past Grafham Water up to Ellington before turning round the village green and heading back to St Neots. This fast course is perfect for posting a fast time with a couple of short, punchy climbs to provide a bit of interest for the legs!

This event is a non-drafting race and there will be British Triathlon moto officials on the course ensuring the event is fair and safe.

Look out for the signs and marshals to keep you on the right course! Pay particular attention at junctions, it’s YOUR responsibility to ensure it is safe to pull out. There will be one mandatory foot down point at a right hand junction on the return leg. Everyone must come to a complete stop before checking that it is clear and proceeding when safe. This junction will be well-signed and monitored carefully – failure to stop will result in a time penalty.

DISMOUNT
Once back into the park you will dismount your bike before the marked dismount line and run with your bike to the entrance marked bike in, rack it the same place you removed it from, you may then remove you helmet. Then run out will be at the opposite end of transition marked with “RUN OUT” signs. Ensure your race number is now facing forwards.

5km SECOND RUN (2 laps of 2.5km)
The second run is a repeat of the first run, giving your supporters more opportunities to encourage you, but this time only requiring two laps before you will be rewarded with the sight of the finish line and your well-deserved finisher’s medal.

Health
It is important that you are fit to run and have not experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the 14 days leading up to the event.

Race Numbers
You will be provided with two race numbers in your registration pack. Your race number must be clearly visible on your front for the run and on your back for the bike. If you are not using a race belt, please pin one number on your back and one on your front. If you are using a race belt, only one number is required, provided you adjust the position of your race number during each leg of the race.

Parking
Parking is available at the venue, PE19 7LH within 50m of  transition, and will be open from 6:30am on race morning.

Changing Facilities and Bag Storage
We will not be providing a changing area, therefore please come changed and ready to race. There will be an informal baggage drop area for you to leave any belongings within the transition area.

Toilets
Toilets will be provided for the event.

Water Station
There will be a water station available as you leave transition. There will be water available at the finish.

Where specified on the booking form any medical information will be passed onto the medical team present at the event.

2) I understand that I enter the race at my own risk and that no person(s) or organisation(s) will be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss to myself, prior to, during or after the event.

Ticket Details

  • If this is your first registration on our new booking platform but had an ATW account previously, your old ATW log in details are now invalid and a new account will be created for you when you book your first event without logging in.
  • If you are booking more than 1 place, please ensure that you complete the individual details for each attendee accurately answering all the questions on their behalf.
  • Relay entries (Standard only) should be completed with lead entrant’s details only. Additional team members’ details will be taken at Registration on the day
