Fambridge Middle Distance Triathlon
JOIN US FOR THE FAMBRIDGE MIDDLE DISTANCE TRIATHLON ON SUNDAY 4TH JULY 2021.
The Fambridge Middle Distance Triathlon is a unique Half distance event situated within convenient travelling distance of London and the South East.
This Middle Distance event consists of a 1.9km swim next to Blue House Farm Nature Reserve on the River Crouch, a 96km cycle taking athletes into the peaceful Essex countryside and finishes with a 18km lapped run based around North Fambridge village with huge support from the local community.
Please note this is a tidal river and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are likely to be compulsory and the Swim Cut-Off is strictly 1 hour 10 minutes after the start time.
There is also an aquabike option available.
The triathlon will begin at 8:30am. The start time is dependant on tide times, which we will know closer to the event. All events will take the style of a time trial with athletes starting at short intervals with the fastest athletes starting the swim first. This is based on the estimated finish time given at the checkout when entering. This format may change depending on the Covid restrictions in place at the time.
Many people are understandably nervous regarding entering events again and we want to assure you that we take every measure we can to organise a safe, socially distanced event. To see this in action watch our video Covid-19 Safety at ActiveTrainingWorld Running and Triathlon Events
We want you to book with confidence so, if this event can no longer go ahead, and an alternative date isn’t found, you will be offered a virtual run or a refund of your entry fee. (Booking fees are non-refundable)

Please note this is a tidal river and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are likely to be compulsory and the Swim Cut-Off is strictly 1 hour and 10 minutes after the start time
Bike: The cycle course takes athletes out of North Fambridge and onto the quiet, scenic roads of the Dengie Peninsula. Here you will pass through small towns and villages with traditional weatherboard homes, negotiate the Burnham Bends and experience a fast and flat course over the marshes. Athletes will complete 2 laps of the course.

Run: The Run course is situated around North Fambridge Village. Here spectators will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the triathlon. Athletes will start the run by heading out along the sea wall before turning inland to run through the village. Here you will see your fellow triathletes on the last part of the cycle. The run will then take athletes through open fields and past the aid station before returning to the transition and finish area. Surface is extremely varied with a mixture of paved roads, paths, trail, grass and gravel.
Need help with your running? Whether this is your first triathlon and you want to know how to prepare, or you are looking to smash your personal best – following a training plan will increase your chances of achieving your goals.
